Alone in the room with the art, one­to­one

with a work that has been created for the indi­

vidual. In a direct and inevitable communication,

intimate and challenging. The ONE ON ONE

exhibition allowed the participating artists to

communicate directly with the individual ob­

server. The individual spaces, that are specially

designed for the newly created work, admitted

just one visitor at a time. Whether an action or

contemplation space, cabinet or non­place,

whether a space for performance, installation

or a conceptual space, material or immaterial –

the artistic creations of individual microcosms

were set no limits beyond the spatial. The exhi­

bition was supported by Dornbracht and pro­

vided the framework for the fourth edition of

the Dornbracht Conversations on the subject of

“Public Intimacy” (p. 214).
