TECHNICAL ADVICES
LAYING
Checking the material
Check SMART-WOOD before installation, taking care to open all the boxes
both to check the uniformity of the slats and to create the right mélange of
faces on the total surface. Please note that cut staves are excluded from
any right of complaint.
Acclimation
It is necessary to acclimatize SMART-WOOD in the room where the installation
will be done at least 24 hours before and in a temperature range between 15
° C and 30 ° C. SMART-WOOD is designed for INDOOR use, both residential
and commercial, according to the classes indicated in the technical data
sheet or on the box.
Quality of the substrate
The surface must be flat and dry. The maximum height difference is 3 mm
in a space of 2 meters. Furthermore, it is necessary not to proceed with
the installation of SMART-WOOD in case of substrates with particularly large
joints, cracks or holes and not grouted / smoothed or substantial residues
of waxes, oils or previous paints.
For correct installation, follow the instructions in the following Youtube tutorial:

WE ADVISE THAT
1. When measuring for installation around pipes, drill holes 12mm larger
than the pipes themselves.
2. Do not install over expansion joints (or, if this is not possible, at least
avoid that the click-clacks of the SPC planks coincide with the expansion
joints in the floor).
3. Decide in which direction the flooring is to be installed. It is recommended
to install the planks parallel to the main light source in the room (usually the
window).
4. The planks must never be anchored to the substrate, furniture or other
fixed elements in the room (eg skirtings).
5. In the first 48 hours after installation: keep pedestrian traffic to a minimum
(recommended); clean the floor to remove any dirt; do not use a vacuum
cleaner with a rotating abrasive brush; do not place the furniture on the floor.
6. Never anchor or block with screws, hooks, nails, etc. kitchen cabinets
or islands directly on the SPC floor. The warranty will be void if the floor is
unable to slightly contract and expand during room temperature changes.
MAINTENANCE
SMART-WOOD does not require either particular maintenance, or periodic
waxing. However, the following tips will help you enjoy the benefits of SPC
over time.
1. It is important to use a good quality doormat on the threshold to trap dirt,
stones, sand and other substances, thus protecting the floor from premature
wear. Additional mats are also suggested in places with heavy use, such as
in front of the sink or kitchen stove. ATTENTION: the persistence of rubber
products on the surface of the SPC can generate indelible stains due to the
black smoke of the rubber itself. Use (even more so when there are furniture
and chairs with pointed feet) pvc protections or the classic felt pads. For
the same reason, avoid traveling on the SPC with colored wheels or tires.
2. As far as possible, keep the room temperature at constant levels over
time, minimizing extreme and sudden changes.
3. Moving furniture or heavy appliances must take place with the help of rags
or blankets under them to avoid possible scratches on the surface of the SPC.
4. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
5. Periodically clean the dirt with non-abrasive brooms and cloths. Wash
with neutral detergent (no aggressive chemicals, no jet-steam, no industrial
machinery) and dry any excessive liquid spills which DO NOT damage
SMART-WOOD, but which could lead to the formation of interstitial molds.
