Federico Pepe
Federico Pepe (Omegna, 1976) is a multi-faceted artist who views communication
as a cultural platform created by the mingling of disciplines.
With an education that enables him to move freely between different fields, over
the years he has built up a very personal body of work intended to break down the
conceptual separations between art, advertising and design, assuming a fluid identity
which appears to escape definition, as he could equally well be described as an artist,
publisher, cultural figure, designer, or simply creator tout court.
In 2006 he opened the publishing product and associated exhibition space
Le Dictateur, now viewed as one of the most interesting cultural projects on the
contemporary Italian artistic scene.
Selected by MoMa to take part in the Millennium Magazine exhibition and by Tate
Modern for No Soul for Sale, the Le Dictateur project, expressing an approach worked
out in a multiplicity of forms, has been revealed to the public in different ways – and
on a variety of occasions – including the performances staged at the Family Business
exhibition space in New York and at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
In 2016, Maurizio Cattelan curated a special edition of the Le Dictateur publishing
project – FAQ / Le Dictateur n. 5 – created to celebrate its tenth anniversary.
After ten years as Executive Creative Director of the DLV BBDO and PROXIMITY
BBDO agencies, working for top international brands such as Prada, Ray-Ban,
Mercedes-Benz, Martini, Rolling Stone, Yamaha and Pearson Group, not to mention
Editions Milano, CC-Tapis, Seletti and Frette,Federico Pepe became founder and CEO
of Le Dictateur Studio.
In 2015 he was a finalist in the prestigious Curate award organised by
Fondazione Prada and the Qatar Museums Authority.
