fondano “tranSglass”, una società che utilizza bottiglie di vino
riciclate per creare accessori da tavolo e vasi di squisito taglio e
forma. Il lancio della “Tord’s Wednesday Collection” nel 2001,
aseguitodellanascitadisuafigliaEvelyn,segnaun’evoluzione
nel lavoro di Tord. Per la Wednesday Collection utilizza
materiali di scarto e tecnologie varie per creare prodotti con
un’estetica romantica e poetica, descrive la natura grazie ad
una particolare sensibilità per la vibrazione e il colore. Tord
ha lavorato e tutt’ora collabora con varie aziende (Swarovski,
Habitat, Artecnica, Authentics, Kvadrat, Moroso, Alexander
McQueen, HP e Philips) su un’ampia gamma di progetti. Tord
hacreatoleseguentiinstallazionipermanenti:unacreazione
artistica per la British Airways presso l’aeroporto di Heathrow,
un lampadario a corona per l’Hotel Delano a Miami. Nel 2009
Tord è stato nominato Professor of Design Products al Royal
College of Art. Nel 2012 Tord ha aperto un nuovo studio e
negozio a Shoreditch, Londra.

and technology. A highly inventive designer, he
has worked on products and commissions. Born in the
Netherlands in 1968, he studied industrial design at the
Eindhoven Design Academy before enrolling at the Royal
College of Art in London in 1992. After graduating in 1995,
hisearlypiecesweremadefromrecycledorfoundmaterials,
he and his wife, Emma Woffenden, founded “tranSglass”, a
company utilising recycled wine bottles to make exquisitely
cut and shaped tableware and vases. The launch of Tord’s
“WednesdayCollection”in2001,followingthebirthofhis
daughter Evelyn, marks an evolution in Tord’s work. The
Wednesday Collection harnesses advanced materials and
technologies to create products with a romantic, poetic
aesthetic, depicting nature combined with a flair for vibrancy
and colour. Tord has worked and still works with different
companies (Swarovski, Habitat, Artecnica, Authentics,
Kvadrat, Moroso, Alexander McQueen, HP and Philips)
onawiderangeofprojects.Tordhascreatedthefollowing
permanent installations: an artwork for British Airways at
Heathrow airport, a candelabra for the Delano Hotel in
Miami. In 2009 Tord was appointed Professor of Design
Products at the Royal College of Art. In 2012 Tord opened his
new studio and shop in Shoreditch, London.
